Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse opens Friday, June 23, taking over the former Restaurant Eugene space on Peachtree Road in Buckhead. And the restaurant is apparently bringing Atlanta its "first omakase steak experience."

Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse offers a tasting menu featuring cuts of wagyu beef prepared in a variety of ways. Think course after course of Zabuton chuck center with Fuji apple ponzu, garlic oil, crispy shallots, and chives, New York strip aburi with caviar and chips, and a truffle wagyu slider for $175 per person. Prefecture also features a la carte dishes of wagyu beef, pork belly, and fresh fish flown in from ports around the world, as well as sushi and sashimi.

Chef Sean Park is known for his omakase offerings at NoriFish in Sandy Springs. Soon, however, he hopes to be known for his omakase steak service at his newest restaurant, Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse, in South Buckhead. Located in the Aramore building in the space formerly home to Restaurant Eugene, Prefecture opens June 23 with an eight-course omakase menu featuring A5 ribeye with Japanese seaweed salt, miyzaki wagyu New York strip with caviar, and a truffle wagyu slider. Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse is slated to open in Buckhead on June 23, 2023, the restaurant Tuesday announced in a press release. Prefecture is located in The Aramore, at 2277 Peachtree Rd., replacing Restaurant Eugene.

This isn't your grandparents' steakhouse. Electronica tunes coming from the speakers reinforce that, but the omakase-style Japanese steak dinner makes things crystal clear. Prefecture in Buckhead offers a tasting menu of all their best dishes, including lobster rice, a cheesy wagyu slider, and three other steak dishes. The “I'll leave it up to you” doesn't work quite as well for steak—we wish we would've been able to select the temps ourselves. But the quality and tastiness of every dish earns a solid A (or should we say A5).

A new Japanese steakhouse in Buckhead promises a one-of-a-kind dining experience for customers — especially those who don't mind letting the chef make all the decisions.

The former Restaurant Eugene space in South Buckhead has been transformed into a sleek, trendy Japanese steakhouse with a unique tasting menu. The $175 per person omakase features eight courses that primarily focus on different preparations of wagyu steak. Other small plates are available a la carte, including oysters topped with yuzu and serrano relish. Excellent craft cocktails include the perfectly sweet Saving Grace, made with lychee, Japanese vodka, and pink guava. Beautiful presentation and a jazzy soundtrack add to the vibes. Buckhead

The chef and co-owner behind seafood omakase concept NoriFish in Sandy Springs is set to open an eatery featuring a different kind of omakase June 23 in Buckhead.

The team behind popular tsukemen brand, Okiboru, is gearing up to open a new concept dubbed Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse, in the former home of Restaurant Eugene at 2277 Peachtree Rd NW later this spring, according to co-owner Jakkrit Tuanphakdee.
